Brick (walls are face brick) and a corrugated iron building and Telegraph exchange station. The telephone exchange has been removed and the entrance has been boarded up. The Post Office entrance is original. The roof was replaced.
The district was first explored in 1864 but it wasn’t until 1904 that land was taken up and it was as late as 1908 that the townsite was officially declared. When the extension of the railway east from Dowerin was planned in 1908 land was set aside for a future townsite in the area of Wyalcatchem Tank. The route of the railway and site for a station was not fixed until 1910, and action followed to then fix the position of the townsite and survey town lots. Following the survey of the lots the townsite was gazetted spelt Wyalkatchem in 1911.

Constructed from 1911, Constructed from 1937
Much of th infrastructure of this precinct remains in good condition and although not used for railway purposes id significant for both it's original and current use.
The Wyalkatchem Railway Precinct is located on the southern side of Wyalkatchem's commercial area. The preinct is bounded on the northern side by Railway Terrace and on the southern side by Grace Street. The CBH Bin is located on Railway Terrace, while traffic access to the Railway Station is from Grace Street. The Railway Barracks are located on the southern side of Grace Street, opposite the Railway Station. The CBH Bin is a long, rectangular structure which runs parallel to Railway Terrace and the railway line. Its timber framed construction supports curved, horizontal sheets of corrugated galvinised iron which form the vertical walls of the individual bins. The whole structure is covered with an asymmetrical gable roof clad with corrugated galvanised iron. The interior was not inspected. The Railway Station is a long, timber framed building clad with weatherboards which sits on a bitumen platform. The hipped roof is covered with clay tiles and extends beyond the line of the walls to form verandahs to all four sides. The long structure contains a set of rooms at either end of the building which are separated by an open area, covered by the hipped roof. The verandah roof is supported with stop chamfered posts with cantilevered sections. A picket fenceis located on the northern side of the platform to stop people walking out onto the railway tracks. The interior spaces were not expected. The Lever Frame sits on a raised timber platform at the eastern end of the Railway Station. A pair of steps leads up to the platform and timber posts in each corner support an iron hand rail. The Railway Barracks are composed of two, single storey timber framed structures clad with weatherboards, with gable roofs covered with corrugated galvanised iron. A kitchen is located at the northern end and then individual cabins lie on either side of a central corridor. The barracks are surrounded by a cyclone fence and it was not possible to inspect the interiors or the arrangement of the cabins. The Loading Platform, Crane and Goods Shed are located to the south and east of the CBH Bin. The Loading Platform is built up with earth which is retained behind timber railway sleepers held in place with vertical railway lines on the southern, eastern and western sides. On the northern side, the platform slopes down towards Railway Terrace. The Platform is finished with a layer of gravel. The 5-ton Crane is located at the south east corner of the Platform. The steel framed Crane sits on a concrete mounting block which is separate from the Platform. Wyalkatchem Railway and CBH Precinct comprises Railway Barracks (1911), Loading Ramp & 5-ton Crane (1911-1916), Goods Shed (1923), CBH Wheat Bin (1936), and Station Building (1937).
The precinct dates from the arrival of Railway in Wyalkatchem and has been added to over the years.
Good-With all buildings within the precinct being used, they are generally in good condition with the exception of the Barracks which requires extensive renovations.

Constructed from 1926
A part of the fabric of society in the days of settlement particularly in country areas. A distinctive style not shown elsewhere in the district.
A solid brick building with an iron roof., Upper walls are cement rendered and painted. The facade has been painted in contrasting colours.
Mr T Dunne was the Lodge Secretary who submitted plans for the building in January 1926. The building was closed in the late 1980's and subsequently ised by the Shire of Wyalkatchem as archive storage.
This is an authentic building and shows little change from the original. Foundation stone is till in place.
Damage to the wooden parts of the structure by termites is evident. The brickwork is fretting and needs attention.

Although of no great age it is significant due to the areas that students come from and that all ages are catered for on the same site.
A single storey collection of buildings of various construction materials.
In the 1950's, the Town tried to have an Agricultural School due to the increasing number of children. This was not to be an ag school, which went to Cunderdin. however a Junior High School was built on the present site in 1960. This became a District high School in 1964 with children bussed from areas such as Koorda and Dowerin. The Primary Scool is also on the same site and a Pre-Primary was added in 1997

Constructed from 1918, Constructed from 1921
The area has been in existance as a Sports Ground and Trotting Track since 1914. It has been the Social & Sporting Centre of Wyalkatchem since then and should be preserved in it's present form.
A flat area of land known as Reserve 15004. The main graqssed area is insude a clay trotting track. The grassed area is used for Cricket, Football, Hockey and to hold shows. There are Baseketball/Neball courts on the site to the west of the main buildings. The main buildings include change rooms, toilets, a bar, dining room and a covered area., There is an outside bar and buildings associated with the Trotting Track.
The sports ground was vested in the Wyalkatchem Roads Board in 1921. There have been problems with the management and control of the grounds and at one time there was a possibility that the recreation facilities would be moved to anothe site. In 1950 the Roads Board confirmed the Grounds would stay where they were. The Wyalkatchem trotting Club was formed in 1922 and went through various stages of management and success. The current organisation held it's first meeting in October 1947.
High Degree/High Degree. The integrity is good and the building are authentic. It is possible that because of demand that there will need to be additional buildings or facilities on site. It is strongly recommended that these do not interfere with the existing building and that they are of a complimentary style.
Well Maintained by the Shire and water is avaliable from a dam on site for reticulation of the grassed areas. Buildings are of mixed age but are representative of the years in which they are built. The Trotting Track is not used for races at this time but the infrastructure should be maintained as there may be some more in the fiuture.

Constructed from 1884
Part of the origins of Korrelocking and Wyalkatchem and used as a holding area for stock being transported from the district by rail. Now significant as a Nature Reserve.
A full description of the Reserve can be found in the 1984 publication of the Nature Reserves of the Shire of Wyalkatchem by Moore & Williams. Slamon Gums are a feature and Gimlet and York Gums are noted. Melaleuca thickets surround a seasonal swamp at the SW corner and there is varied scrub understory. 44 bird species have been known to use the reserve and Kangaroos and Evchidnas are permanent residents
Dates back to 1884 as a stopping place for temas. Two wells were sunk on the reserve, one on Tyler Rd which is in bad condition and the other off centre of the reserve to the East of Tyler Road. In 1922 the Reserve was vested in the Minister of Water Supply. The reserve was used for grazing and a lease was issued in 1960 which was terminated in 1978 to protect the native Flora and Fauna. in 1983, the reseve was vested in the Shire and CALM. A car parking area has been built on the reserve with access from Tyler Road and picnic tables installed. A walk trail has been marked and information boars erected.
Good Degree.
as this is a nature reserve the less outside influences of man is a prime consideration. No attempt has been made to change the area other than the parking are and walk trail. There has been fire damage to the NE corner but growth is naturally reestblishing itself. There are areas on the eastern side that are infested with blue lupins and some efforts are being made to control this.

Constructed from 1957, Constructed from 1955
Significant as a reminder of sacrifices made during the was by local residents.
Wyalkatchem R.S.L Memorial Hall is located on the southern side of Wilson Street in a residential area. A pipe framed chain link runs across the front of the property and returns down the western side where it butts up against the northern (front) side of the building. A pair of brick toilet blocks are located near the rear property line (south); these are of recent construction. The Memorial Hall was constructed in two parts. The first stage was the front section, a brick and iron single storey structure with a flat roof designed in Inter-War Functionalist style with a raised flower bed which incorporates elements of the Functionalist style and a curved, flat roof porch. The second state is the rear section, a single storey timber framed building, set on timber stumps and clad with horizontal sheets of corrugated, galvanised iron to dado height and battened asbestos cement sheeting above. The gable roof clad is with corrugated, galvanised iron sheets. The interior features rooms opening off a central hallway which then leads into a large hall at the rear. Honour Boards for the Wyalkatchem District, Korrelocking and Benjaberring have been hung on the walls in this area.
Plans were drawn up as early as 1950 but construction only took place in 1955. The foundation stone was laid by Fred Cheyney, the State President of the RSL, in April 1955. The building was opened in 1956.
Good- externally- the interior to be checked.

Automated lighting has been installed for night use.
Built in 1949 on a site purchased by the Shire. Originally a site was obtained to the north of the Town but this is now used by the District High School.
High Degree
Good, in terms of the locaton and the fact that the original runway still forms part of the present site.
