Statement of Significance

Northam Fire Station is a distinctice two-storey building which was one of the last individually designed fire stations to be built in the state.

Physical Description

Northam Fire Station No. 2 & Quarters (fmr) is a two-storey brick and iron-roofed building flanked by single storied wings, built in 1929 displaying some elements of the Inter-War Stripped Classical style.

History

The fire station was the second to be built in Northam, replacing an earlier (1903) structure. The brigade was established in October 1898 and was one of the very first volunteer brigades to be established in WA.
