History

This small cottage was built for James Delmage when he first arrived in Dongara in the early 1880s. He operated a blacksmith's shop (it was sited on the corner of Moreton Terrace and Martin Street where Dongara Hardware now stands). Delmage later lived in the two storey house (Place No. 27) and was President of the Irwin District Roads Board, 1903-1918. (Source: Jean Thurkle).
The house was occupied for many years by Mr & Mrs Sid Criddle. (Source: IDHS Records)
